After leaving the corporate world in 2012, I bought a large BBQ trailer and started Well Done Q in the summer of 2013 in the parking lot of Rohrbach’s Farm Market, the farm that my wife, Denise, grew up on.  We opened with the goal of bringing high quality, southern-style BBQ to central PA.  During the first few summers, I worked hard at learning how to make BBQ on a much larger scale than the backyard. There were a few misses, but many more hits! 

As we grew, I wanted to establish a business identity that would connect on a personal level with my customers. Since we get to interact with almost everyone that stops by, I decided to change the name to something that conveys the personal touch that goes into our BBQ and into our business. In 2016, we changed the name, and relaunched as Big Dan's BBQ. Denise and I love the opportunity we have to meet customers from all over.  We have many locals who come often, and with our close proximity to Knoebel’s Amusement Park, we get many out-of-towners that have made our place a regular stop on their annual visits to the park.

We continued to grow in the roadside stand, and in the end of 2019, we got to the point where we needed to expand. We decided to convert the loft inside Rohrbach's Farm Market into a sit-down restaurant with a larger kitchen and storage area. This allows us to expand our days of operation, handle inclement weather, and offer additional menu items and specials more easily. 

Beginning in April 2021, we opened our new indoor space in the loft! It has been a long road to get here, but we are so excited to expand inside and continue offering your favorite BBQ!
